Chris Rissel is Professor of Public Health at the University of Sydney. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles plus dozens of research reports and book chapters. He has extensive experience in planning, implementing and evaluating community-based health promotion. From 2001 to 2011 he was Director of the Health Promotion Service in the Sydney South West Area Health Service, and from 2012 he has been the Director of the NSW Office of Preventive Health. His current research interests focus on obesity prevention and active transport with a particular emphasis on cycling advocacy. He also has research interests in tobacco control and sexual health.
